General Presentation |

The increasing number of smart devices found on the market change our everyday lives and the objects we use become connected and easily controlled remotely with a smart device or computer. In this respect, the Internet of Things (IoT) has begun to change different industries, and the education sector does not represent an exception.

The use of IoT in education can improve activities in schools from different points of view, such as:

  • Security (smart security) – for monitoring the students’ activity and providing helpful information, if requested;
  • Educational applications – those can be powerful and creative tools that increase the students’ motivation and help in the process of teaching abstract and complex topics;
  • Interactive learning – the interaction specific to intelligent devices contributes to a better understanding of the taught subjects.

This seminar aims to introduce participants in the first steps on the specific concepts of IoT and in the construction of a simple, but attractive and useful smart device, using programmable boards and 3D printed objects.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  • Presentation of the IoT concepts and IoT applications;
  • Familiarization with an on-line programming language based on blocks;
  • Creating a smart object using programmable boards and 3D printed objects.

Themes | on-line programming language based on blocks, smart devices, problem-solving, autonomous learning, 3D printing.
